12 Step Basic Crime Scene Investigation
40 hours (5 days)
Service Description
This 40 hour class, which is I. A. I. approved for 40 hours in Crime Scene, teaches a simple but comprehensive 12-step program to working any crime scene. This process starts with the arrival on scene of the crime scene investigator, leads through note taking, photography, scene and evidence processing just to name a few, and concludes with testifying. As attendees arrive, they will be introduced to a mock scene which they will work all week as each step is taught. The reason our basic crime scene class differs from all others is because of how the attendees work an actual scene using the 12-step program. making the class true to life. This provides a fluid and chronologically correct education, instead of jumping from topic to topic during the week. While the 12-step program guides attendees on how to work any crime scene, the class is kept generic enough that agency specific topics like which chemical dye stain to use is left for the attendee's agency to teach them. There are a lot of practical hands-on exercises that the attendees will participate in, and as such, we suggest and strongly encourage, them to bring the equipment with them that they would generally be working with.
