Courtroom Testimony; the Next Chapter

16 hours (2 days)

Service Description

This 2-day class is a follow-up to Demystifying Testifying; Courtroom 101 and picks up where that one leaves off as the witness has just got through introductions to the jury. In this class time is spent explaining and demonstrating how evidence or photographs are introduced in court and the questions to expect when doing so. Instruction then moves to dealing with the defense attorney and how to deal with difficult questions. An understanding of leading questions that attorneys may use and how, will be provided. Tenured and experienced attorneys have assisted in formulating this portion of the class. If you are fairly new to testifying, we encourage you to attend the Demystifying Testifying class first as a pre-requisite. Also required for this 2-day class is for the attendees to send in 2 reports they have done from a criminal case they have previously worked on but is now closed. On day one students will be told which of those two reports the attendee will be testifying to on day 2 of the class. Attendees will be "on the stand" for both direct and cross examination for the case they submitted to give them some experience and feel more comfortable knowing what to expect.
